To address these requests, the Curbside Value Partnership (CVP) is holding an online meeting open to individuals interested in hearing about the Recycling Partnership. Announced on April 30 at the Walmart Expo, the Recycling Partnership is a major public-private partnership initiative that will combine outreach and infrastructure improvements to boost recycling rates with a first-year focus on the southeastern region of the U.S. Originated in December 2013 through the Southeast Recycling Development Council, and later known as SERDC 120, CVP has taken leadership and now manages what is now called the Recycling Partnership. WHAT: An online meeting to share information about the Recycling Partnership. CVP Executive Director Keefe Harrison will give an overview of the Recycling Partnership; discuss its approach to boosting recycling rates and the role that stakeholder engagement plays in the initiative. This summer, residents of this southern California community will be seeing and hearing a great deal about the benefits and ease of recycling at home, thanks to a new partnership between the Curbside Value Partnership (CVP) and the City. After a selective national process, San Diego was recently chosen as one of CVP’s partner communities for 2014. Together, CVP and the City, specifically the Environmental Services Department, will develop and execute an education campaign aimed at area residents to improve residential recycling participation and tonnage. The national project will combine outreach and infrastructure improvements to boost recycling rates with a first-year focus on the southeastern part of the U.S. The effort is currently in the partner-building phase. Activities are expected to begin as early as July. We are excited with the initial verbal and fiscal support of this fast-paced, action-focused public-private partnership,” said Keefe Harrison, CVP executive director. “CVP has a long track record of increasing the recovery of recyclables and we’re confident this project will contribute even more results. The concept originated in December 2013 through the Southeast Recycling Development Council and later became known as SERDC 120.
